Abstract submission guidelines
Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present the abstract as accepted. Expenses associated with the preparation, submission and presentation of an abstract are the responsibility of the presenter(s)/author(s). Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to register for the meeting and pay the meeting registration fee, unless they qualify for complimentary registration. Qualifications will be listed under Abstract Guidelines in the submitter.
Abstracts and/or information being submitted cannot be previously PRESENTED or published within the United States or Internationally. You may submit new research on a topic that was previously presented.
The abstract should be organized as follows: (a) a sentence describing the purpose of the study; (b) a statement of experimental design or methods used; (c) a summary of results, presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusion; and (d) a statement of conclusions reached. It is not satisfactory to state "The results will be discussed . . ." or "Other data will be presented." Do not use subtitles, e.g., methods, results, etc., within the body of the abstract. Failure to follow this format will result in a low priority score and may cause disqualification of your abstract. Case reports will not follow this format and instructions are listed within the submitter program, once you have set up your account.
Abstracts have a character limit of 2,200. This includes the author institutions, title, body, methods, conclusions, hypothesis, and conclusions and all spaces.
Your abstract will be scored on the following criteria: 1) the scientific merit of the abstract, 2) the adequate sample size and proper statistical analysis, 3) adherence to instructions, and 4) originality of work.
Abstracts are printed as submitted--SCCM does not edit or proof abstracts. You can make corrections to your abstract until September 5, 2007. After this date, abstracts will be published as is.
SCCM does not accept any abstracts after September 5, 2007. There are no "latebreaking" abstract submissions accepted or published.
